Committee PJAK - UK To: Foreign Secretary William Hague MP Subject: Turkeys Crimes against Kurds by using Chemical Weapon
We condemn the Turkish State for its violation of its own laws and conventions by deploying highly toxic and lethal chemical weapons. Turkeys Government has been committing crimes against humanity, war crimes and massacres against Kurdish population for a long time. The ongoing war against the freedom struggle of the Kurds has led to thousands of political prisoners, thousands of casualties, displaced people and burnt villages but while this has been happening the European and International community have yet to challenge these violations.
On 22 October 2011, Turkish warplanes killed 37 Kurdish freedom fighters by use of chemical weapons in Guze Reshe and Gunde Pire areas of Chele district. The bodies of the victims are held at the Malatya Forensic Medicine Institution. The burnt faces and the mutilated bodies seen in the photographs of the victims could not have been caused by ordinary weapons. The Turkish State has used napalm bombs and chemical weapons in this brutal murder. German experts have confirmed the truth of the photographs which showed that Kurdish activists were killed by chemical weapons in September 2009 too. The evidence and campaigns have not moved the Turkish government even one inch despite demands for a full impartial investigation made by German politicians and human rights groups.
The Turkish government has been consistently using the terrorism card against Kurdish activists, despite the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) having signed the Geneva Convention in 1995. This is a clear violation of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction (otherwise known as the Chemical Weapons Convention) signed and ratified by Turkey in 1997. It is ironic that the convention (OPCW) is headed by Director-General Ambassador Ahmet zmc, who has represented Turkey earlier at the UN and NATO.
Turkey remains undeterred in its two-pronged war to impose a complete siege on the Kurdish areas by chemical weapon attacks as well as the illegal and arbitrary arrests of Members of Parliament, civil society leaders and mayors. These mass arrests are being justified on the basis of national security and anti-terror laws. However, the real intention is to criminalize and terrorize the Kurdish people and whoever supports the Kurdish struggle for freedom and fundamental individual rights.
While the conscience of the international community has remained shamefully silent; Turkey continues to kill Kurds, isolating the Kurdish Leader Abdullah Ocalan who has been prevented from seeing his family and his solicitors for 120 days , the barbaric Turkish State even attacks people who would like to exercise their democratic rights such as demonstrating against the killings of their children.
It is to draw public attention to these issues that we as Kurdish PJAK community in the UK have decided to march from the City of Leeds to the UK Capital London on 25/ 11 /2011. We are bringing with us a letter to Mr Davis Cameron, the Prime Minister, and the House of Commons calling on them in the name of humanity to respond and take action to trace:
1-All crimes that have been committed by the Turkish military and Government by using chemical weapon and napalm bombs that have been supplied. 2- Take the pressure off Kurdish politicians and release all 3,800 persons 3-End the sanctions on Kurdish leader Abdulla Ocellan immediately The Kurdish participants Name and address: 1- Rebwar Raouf 25 years old Address (16 Kelso road, Leeds , LS2 9PR) 2- Farhad Mohamadian 38 years old Address (288 Dickenson road. M13 0XL) 5- Pishwa Ahmed Pour 26 Years old . Address (Pen drill Street . Hull City , HU3 1 UU)
We urge the UK not to stand by but to stop this atrocity of the Turkish State. It is waging a genocide against the Kurdish nation and it must not go unchallenged. Please take action to halt this aggression and murderous crimes of Turkey. We feel that Turkeys defiance can only be halted through direct action on the part of Western countries through political and economic sanctions.
